BLACK HISTORY MONTH: CELEBRATING EXCELLENCE

Black history is made every day and one month is definitely not enough to highlight these achievements and that's a fact. But since it is Black History Month- A month celebrating the excellence, brilliance and achievements of African Americans, I will be turning my spotlight to the contribution and achievements of African Americans in 2021 so far.
Here are a few beautiful souls worth celebrating:
  •  Amanda Gorman

Amanda Gorman is the youngest poet to read at a presidential inauguration in United States History. She stole the heart of the world with her beautiful inaugural poem for the country titled- "The Hill We Climb". She is also a graduate of Harvard University.

  • Kamala Harris

Kamala Harris is the first female vice president, the highest-ranking female official in the U.S. history and the first African American and first Asian American vice president, beat that.

  • Eugene Goodman

Eugene Goodman is an American law enforcement officer and U.S. Army Veteran serving as the acting Deputy Sergeant at Arms of the United States Senate. Officer Eugene baited and diverted an angry mob of rioters from entering the chambers of the United States Senate on the 6th of January 2021, thereby saving lives.

These are just a few African Americans that we get to hear and share their stories, there are many more we might not be privileged to hear their story but they are changing the world and making history every single day.

Black History Month Attire
When you hear African dress or attire, your mind goes straight to the beautiful, vibrant, color-rich and detailed African prints. African prints are worn as a symbol of pride, identity and history. So make sure you head over to Ray Darten and get your African print outfits for this historic month.

Great post! Agreed 100%, black history is being made every day. Unfortunately the news media never sends a balanced narrative. For the most part what you see on a daily basis in the news are stories about thugs and criminals. If you ever do see anything positive, the segment is extremely short and not put on repeat the same way the negativity is. It’s a shame because media is very powerful and sadly many people lump us together into one group and believe that all of us are criminals or lazy. I decided to stop watching it. I was born in America, and I’m not ashamed; I’m not a thug, I’m not lazy, and I’m not a criminal.
